Freshspace was established in Kendal, a creative business hub with the luxury of being on the doorstep of the Lake District. The business was created around the combined skills of Darren Nicholls and Eilidh Lee, and their alignment in business expertise. Diverse professional backgrounds in both the private and public sector have allowed for a more flexible approach to business development. This enables Freshspace to offer organisations a bespoke package of services through Darren and Eilidh's complimentary skill set.
After completing a BA Honours in Graphic Arts and Design, Darren worked in multimedia for organisations such as the HSE. He then moved into web design whilst working for a South Lakes based telecommunications training company before starting his own business. The business successfully ran for 7 years at which point Darren approached an up and coming Carlisle-based digital design agency, Hydrant. As Regional Business Manager for Hydrant, Darren supported the company in growing and expanding their client reach from local to national. With experience in supporting business growth and project management qualifications Darren has extensive business expertise.
Despite having started out in the private sector working for a media and marketing agency in Glasgow, Eilidh's career has mainly been in the public sector. Various project management roles led to Eilidh working on a collaborative procurement project across Cumbria and with far-reaching impact across the North West. Experience in this role inspired her to take up a position as Procurement and Contracts Manager at South Lakeland District Council. Eilidh is PRINCE II and CIPS accredited, and has worked closely with businesses and third sector organisations in their development and growth through various roles that she has undertaken in the public sector and freelance.
